Hitler's List

I found this..... for lack of a better term... chaotic rant in my "Just Strange" folder.... It is old... I began writing it in response to an e-mail my aunt sent me.... probably around a year ago. Any way... the response got out of hand and off topic and I never ended up sending it. Despite the lack of timelyness, not to mention coherency, I decided to go ahead and post it. Enjoy.

..............................................................................................................................................................................

I meant to comment on this as soon as I read it but honestly at first I was unsure of how to do so. The argument presented by Christine Robinson on her blog site is one that I have never seen before. It is sad to me to think that I have reached adult hood in a time in which it is acceptable to think of motherhood as slavery. Let’s think on that for a moment. Why was slavery so bad? Slavery is so bad because it forced an entire race of people into submission for many generations. How is that like incubating a fetus? Even if it is mandatory, can nine months of indentured servitude be compared to the horror of Slavery? It is true that banning abortion would force people into doing something that they may not want to do, I understand that a person growing inside another person is no small thing. But to compare that to slavery is ludicrous. It is a mockery of the torment that slavery was and is.

I have come to be a man in a time when society has strayed so far from morality that many of my peers seem to believe that sex stops at the orgasm. They don’t seem to think about the fact that the pleasure they seek is a by product of the action that creates other human beings. Of course sex is not the extent of our lust driven nation, in some ways it is not even the most damaging. Lust extends into many other aspects of life. Lust for money drives people to do irrational, unkind, cruel things that they would not usually do. Our society is run by corporations that make more money in a day than most people will see in their entire lives. Why? Who can even spend that kind of money? It doesn’t matter. It’s the lust for money that feeds corporation owners. Rich men are just like poor men, because you can never have enough money. There are infinitely large holes in everyone’s pockets. People who win the lottery are advised to invest their money so that it can make them more money. Money making money. The American dream has changed from “work hard, and make yourself somebody” into “Get lucky and let the world make you”

What is with society? Have we lost all touch with ourselves? With what it means to be human beings? When is the last time you did something that you honestly enjoyed? Do you even remember what you truly love? When was the last time you read something for you, instead of to impress someone else?

We live in an age with diagnoses for everything. Most people toss out terms like “Bi-Polar,” “PDSD,” “Depression,” “Attention Deficit Disorder,” “Psychopathic,” “Schizophrenic,” or “Claustrophobic” with limited knowledge as to how the word is even pronounced, let alone what it means. I have heard ADD used so much that I can see it in everyone, in fact I have heard many people say that “Every one is at least a little ADD” Well… If everyone is ADD then why did we give it a name? Why didn’t we just call it normal? The fact is that by tossing around these psychology terms we limit their meaning. These terms are used to a point that they are meaningless. If someone were to come up to me and say something like “It turns out that Adolf Hitler was Bi-polar.”
I’d respond with something like “Well, so the hell what? My last two roommates were Bi-polar. One of them was also Schizophrenic and had delusions of grandeur. The guy I live with now is ADD and suffered from PDSD awhile back. I could have told you that Hitler was Bi-Polar… In fact I bet he was also Psychopathic, Homicidal, Asthmatic, Suicidal, Delusional, Unusual, Schizophrenic, Diabetic, Alergetic, Homo-Phobic, Alcoholic, Prophylactic, Acrobatic, and half Jewish!.
